Similarly, it can either rip audio CDs or burn them. Luckily, this application supports a wide range of source formats, as practically every popular audio and video format is supported.

The program has a straightforward interface that will probably be very familiar to those users with previous experience with this type of application. In fact, some of them may be somewhat disappointed by the extreme visual similarity with other programs, mostly by the same developer. The three main functions of converting files, ripping CDs and burning discs appear compartmentalized in different tabs.

In keeping with its batch conversion feature, the program supports adding both individual files and complete folders. Once you have created a list of files to convert, you can also edit them by cutting and splitting. It is notable that it supports extracting various segments from the same source clip. Likewise, you can add such effects as fade in, fade out, normalize, chorus, and echo. Finally, you will be ready to start converting, but before that, you need to choose an output profile. Fortunately, the program supports a surprising array of output formats. Moreover, you can send the resulting files directly to a connected device, including iPod, iPhone and PSP.

In order to rip a CD, you just need to insert a disc and let the program update the list of the songs included. From it, you can select the tracks you wish to extract. Once again, a wide range of output formats is available. Unfortunately, it does not allow editing tags.

Three types of discs can be burned. For instance, you can either create a music CD, an MP3 CD or a WMA CD. It is good that, regardless of the type of source file, which can even be a video clip, the program takes care of setting the required conversion settings without needing user’s intervention. Sadly, the program does not support saving your compilation as an image file.

All in all, Xilisoft Audio Maker includes a comprehensive set of functions that allows you to manipulate audio files successfully. As it is intended for the standard user, it does not include any sophisticated feature that is present in software for professional use.
