Replay Video Capture is a Windows utility that might come in handy if you need to record your screen activity and create video tutorials. The application lets you export your recordings to various formats, allows you to define hotkeys for immediately completing certain tasks, and offers you quality results.
You have access to a wide variety of video recording options, the ability to schedule recording tasks, and an option to capture streaming videos from hidden windows.
The app offers you to download and install a program that isn't necessary while working with Replay Video Capture. Another thing that bothers me is that you'd need to install additional tools on your PC in order to export your recordings to certain types of formats.
Also, even though the program provides you with various hints, I still think a built-in help manual might come in handy as the app isn't intuitive at all if you compare it with other video recording tools.
Other disadvantages include the lack of video editing options and mouse clicks effects and the fact that the built-in screenshot tool doesn't work.
With that being said, I don't think it's worth buying this video recording tool for your Windows PC. You can easily find other video recording programs that don't bring you the aforementioned flaws, provide you with more features, and come with reasonable prices.
v5.4.2 [Oct 7, 2011]
- DVD ready videos: you can now record videos in DVD format ready to be burned on disc (see below). This eliminates hours of conversion or transcoding.
- scheduled recordings: video recordings can now be scheduled. Replay Video remembers your screen coordinates along with the start/end times of recording.
- dual audio recoding: two audio sources can be simultaneously recorded. Record your voice over a video with audio track.
- dual monitor support: you can use a second monitor to play/record videos while using the first monitor to do other things.
- video snapshots: 32 bit video snapshots can be taken while recording or pausing videos, full screen or selected windows.
- improved video quality: the new Enhanced mode allows video frames rates up to 50 frames per second. This is particularly important when recording in DVD format.
- more video codecs and video formats: MPEG-4 and DVD codecs can now be used as default video formats along with MPEG-2 and Windows Media. AVI files can now be created besides the MPG and WMV. Replay Video can also use other video codecs already installed in your computer (ffdshow, DivX, Xvid, h264, FLV). The recorded video format is AVI.
- lots of bug fixes and improvements: pause is now available for all video formats, file sizes larger than 4 GB are displayed correctly, use of program on non-administrative accounts and more.
