Free Zip Helper is a simple archive management utility that lets you both create new archives and unzip existing ones.
The most remarkable advantage of this handy program is probably the fact that it supports a very large number of compression and encoding formats, including popular ones like 7Z, ACE, ARJ, ZIP, RAR, CAB, LHA, ISO, JAR, LZH, DMG, TGZ or TAR, but also lesser known ones like ZOO, XXE, XAR, WIM, WAR, CPIO, or CHW.
Free ZIP Helper is also easy-to-use and simple, but I won’t say that its interface is worth the appreciation. The interface looks not only dull and tedious, but also rather unfinished. It lacks basic elements like a proper title bar and it displays a weird, useless black area in its middle, where probably some ads should have been displayed. Anyway, it gets the job done and it’s really simple-to-use and straightforward. It can also be used to split archives into smaller pieces and to extract only specific files from archives. Furthermore, it supports different compression levels, including high compression ratios.
To sum it all up, though it looks rather unpolished, Free Zip Helper gets its job done and it’s completely free, so I’d say it’s still worth a shot whenever you need a simple and handy archive file manager.
