The Extractor 1.4.1 is a file decompression utility for Windows. Unlike other file compression applications on the market, this one does only decompress your content, and it allows you to do so in a variety of ways. The main way to use The Extractor is by dragging-and-dropping files onto the main window. There, files will be added to the top pane. You can then right-click on any file and choose among several ways to decompress your files. The default action for all files is to extract the files to the input folder (the folder were the file was originally). You can change this manually or you can create up to nine presets that change the way The Extractor deals with files. Now, I like the fact that you can easily add files to the interface and run a batch decompression process in which all files will be given either a common output folder or several different ones. For the user who downloads movies and games off the Internet, The Extractor adds a couple of features as well. It will keep the .nfo file and bring it to the output folder and it will also grab any subtitles contained in the original folder. There are many actions similar to these ones too. The only thing keeping The Extractor from being a serious contender is the lack of Explorer integration. I am just too used to right-clicking files to extract them. I could learn not to, but having the option would definitely help.
