Dock Preview is a simple utility that allows you to preview in Dock the icons you create. The target users are developers and designers who want to know how the newly-created icons will look like when positioned in Dock.

The program's interface is straightforward, clean, and it doesn't require advanced knowledge to use it. First, you need to select the images preconfigured as icons. The tool supports loading up to nine different images. Once imported, you are provided with a thumbnail-like display of each item and the possibility to navigate through the images by using either arrow or numeric keys. To preview a specific icon in Dock, you simply click on that particular image. Consequently, the original icon of the program will be replaced by the image you have just selected. In addition, the application provides the ability to configure badge strings for your icons.

As the name of the program clearly suggests, the tool is a simple icon previewer. It is meant for developers who want to enjoy an accurate display of their icons in Dock, so that they can see whether their projects need customization or not. I consider though that adding a small image editor to the app would do no harm. Without this option, users are required to switch to other editing programs even for the slightest adjustment.
