Yomi Hustle is a free-to-play turn-based fighting game that allows users to create and execute a series of choreographed combat scenes. While billed as a PvP platform, this game is also a fighting sandbox due to the sheer number of skills that can be obtained and employed.
In terms of its ability to mimic the 2D fighting games of the 1980s and early 1990s, the pixel-based nature of Yomi Hustle can be compared to other games, such as First Cut. Therefore, it should be attractive to SEGA and Nintendo fans.
As opposed to memorizing lengthy combinations, users can choose from a series of moves that are located at the bottom of the screen. These will then be sequentially entered into a timeline. When triggered, the character executes these moves.
Yomi Hustle is essentially a platformer that allows users to construct their own personal style of combat. As well as the offensive actions of the opponent, winning or losing will depend on the combination of moves that are selected. Note that single-player and online PvP modes are both supported.
The actions of the fighter are listed at the bottom of the screen. These include melee attacks, defensive postures, movement angles, and "super" powers that can be activated at specific times. It is, therefore, possible to create a near-limitless number of combinations. Users can also access an online lobby in order to compete with other players when desired.
Players who might have been frustrated with the combo-oriented gameplay of platforms like Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 can now place themselves in the driver's seat in terms of developing their own combat strategies. Likewise, the freestyle nature of this game provides a great deal of freedom.
