Xrename transforms file names through an ordered sequence of 'find/replace' commands. The Xrename idea builds on XX. Xrename builds on XX which in turn builds on Xsed which in turn builds on Unix sed. But in contrast to XX, Xrename transforms file names themselves and not their contents. So it's possible perform a succession of transformations on a file name if that's what's needed.
