Organizing your work starts by organizing your thoughts – XMind provides you with all the elements you need to put your objectives and thoughts in writing in an orderly manner and with intuitive and elegant designs. This open source free tool comes with a wide range of templates and mind maps that cover all possible projects and workflows that require careful planning.
The functionality provided by XMind can be further extended by upgrading to either the Plus or the Pro versions, which are no longer open source. These will allow you to access to the Brainstorming and Presentation Modes, the Gantt View, and various toolboxes, as well as to export your mind maps to PDF and all Office formats. Sticking to this open source version, though, won’t prevent you from making use of its powerful mind mapping capabilities. You will be able to print and save your maps and diagrams for future use, but you won’t be allowed to share them in file format.
XMind comes in a clear and nice-to-look-at interface, full of useful and nicely-designed templates for all possible mind maps, diagrams, flow charts, etc., that you may need when organizing your thinking and designing your strategies. Fishbone charts, matrices, tables, flow charts, diagrams... just make your pick and customize the selected template with your own thoughts, your company’s strategic areas, your personal training plan, a timeline, or a simple to-do list. Whatever the need, XMind 2013 will provide you with the right type of mind map. Besides, the program includes a wide array of beautiful clip art objects for you to embellish your projects, and to add intuitive markings to highlight the most sensitive elements.
The program can show you a printout preview and a useful schematic view of all the elements in the diagram in hierarchical order, so that you can check the overall structure of your project. Being an open source tool, you are welcome to improve XMind 2013 for you and other potential users, as well as to make it part of your own development. Few similar tools offer the variety and gusto that you can find in this excellent mind-mapping tool.
