Xilisoft DVD to iPhone Converter is a commercial DVD ripper. It can help you if you want to convert your DVD movies into formats that play on the iPhone. This converter, just like many other iPhone, iPad, iPod, etc. converters, uses H.264 and MPEG-4 to encode your videos. This particular converter comes with 4 conversion profiles, which are optimized conversion settings. Three of them use H.264 and the remaining one uses MPEG-4. You can also convert DVDs to audio files by choosing MP3, WAV or one of the other supported formats from the profile drop-down menu.
Xilisoft DVD to iPhone Converter uses an installation wizard to install the app, which is not the ideal way of doing it on a Mac. But it still works. Some users might find it more annoying than others. I just can't stand installation wizards.
In terms of performance, Xilisoft DVD to iPhone Converter worked well in my testing. It detected all the titles that came with my DVD, and I was able to convert them to H.264 files quite easily. I didn't see any options to trim the video or to crop it, which most free converters come with.
All in all, this is just another commercial DVD ripper that is a little overpriced and doesn't have most of the features that other solutions (even free ones) have.
