Xilisoft DVD Ripper Platinum is a commercial DVD ripper. It is the second most fully-featured DVD ripper by Xilisoft, second only to the "Ultimate" version. It can be used to convert your DVD movies into a variety of video and audio formats. It can also take snapshots of your movies and save them in JPEG files.
The converter has a very nice and simple user interface which is very intuitive. I feel really comfortable with this type of interface. It shows a big space where the DVD titles will be listed once you load your DVD, a video player and conversion settings on the right, and, at the bottom, the list of supported formats and conversion profiles. These are arranged in many different categories, and there are plenty of profiles, but you can also choose a plain format and customize the conversion manually. There are profiles for devices like iPods, iPads, iPhones, AppleTV, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, mobile phones, etc.
As far as DVD ripping goes, this version isn't really much more complete than the standard version. If you absolutely must merge soundtracks or have more options for taking snapshots, then it does come with a few extra features. But the only feature that you get from this that you don't get with the "Standard" version is the ability to merge different sources.
