XFreesoft Mac DVD to Hard Drive Converter is a commercial DVD ripper. The "hard drive" in the application's name seems to be the developer's way of saying multi-purpose or multi-format. It supports quite a few different formats, including AVI, MKV, WMV, VOB, MPEG, MP4 and MOV. This ripper comes with a video editor and a video player for quick video playback. However, the video player won't let you preview the effects of the conversion.
To get started, you need to load the DVD movie. This will fill the app's screen with the DVD titles that make up your movie. You can convert them all, or uncheck those that you don't want to convert. You can convert different titles to different formats; that is to say, not all the titles have to be converted to the same format.
The video editor allows you to crop and trim your videos and adjust their brightness and contrast. There is also support for watermarks.
There are a few things that didn't work for me. The first one is subtitles, regardless of what I tried, I couldn't get them to work. There is a bug that prevented me from converting the first 15 seconds of my movie. It just started 15 seconds into the movie and there was nothing I could do to tell it to start from 00:00.00.
