Xfile is a file manager designed for OS X that offers integration with Unix and operations specific to the Unix operating system. It was written while taking into consideration the needs of professional developers and network administrators.

The utility intends to offer its users the possibility to view more details related to their files than they can view using Finder. The user interface consists of a window with two panes. The one on the left presents the tree structure of the disk while the other one displays files and folders included in the directories selected in the left pane, under the form of a list with several columns. These columns describe the files in terms of: size, inode, links, owner, group, time and date when they were last accessed, changed and modified and mode. As it was previously said, focus is placed on allowing the user access to all file system information. The toolbar includes buttons that offer quick access to directories (e.g. "applications", "volumes") and others for performing tasks like to create new folders or to copy, duplicate, delete, rename or move files.

Xfile is a Unix file manager aimed at IT professionals and their needs regarding the administration of a file system or network.
