X-Men Origins - Wolverine is an action game based on the eponymous comics character. It tells the story of Wolverine, perhaps the most popular Marvel character of all time. Just like in the movie, you see Wolverine's past via flashbacks. In the game, most cut-scenes show you a little about why Wolverine's past is important for the current mission.
The game follows a third-person perspective. The camera control is stable enough to let you control your character accurately, yet it keeps up with fast-paced sequences as well. X-Men Origins is a very gruesome game. There are lots of different ways to kill your opponents and some of the finish moves that Wolverines pulls are just amazing. I found myself saying: "Oh snap" several times during the first mission. What is really great about those finishing moves is that they look like pre-rendered cut-scenes, yet they are triggered by different events. So the transition between the way you are fighting and those scenes is indeed seamless.
The game isn't very long, and you will often find yourself fighting numerous enemies before making it to the level's bosses. Sometimes the action is repetitive, but the gruesome finishing moves make up for that. Perhaps the game could be a more challenging experience - but this is just an action game, no strings attached. It is all about getting to the final boss by killing as many enemies as you can and making it as bloody as humanly possible.
