WSwitch is intended for controlling smart switches right from your Mac. The application can automatically find devices on your network or you can add them manually. In this respect, it supports a variety of switches, including WeMo Insight Switch, WeMo Smart LED Bulb, WeMo Light Switch and WeMo Maker. Luckily, there is a video demonstration to show you how it is used.
This utility is very light and runs unobtrusively from the Menu Bar. If you click on its icon there, you will see the list of switches that you can toggle on or off with a single click. Another possibility is to assign hotkeys for each of them, in case you do not want to lift your hands from the keyboard. I loved the possibility to create groups of switches. For instance, I can create a group called “bedroom” and include all the switches in my bedroom, including lights and an air conditioner. This allows me to turn everything off when I am leaving the room. Luckily, setting keyboard shortcuts for groups is also allowed.
All in all, WSwitch is a very practical application that allows controlling devices via smart switches. Unfortunately, it has the limitation of not allowing to control devices that are not on your local WiFi network. Likewise, it does not seem to allow adjusting a dimmer. The product is available from the Mac App Store at a reasonable price.
