WinMetro allows you to use the Metro interface, indigenous to the Windows 8 operating system, on Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows Vista. Unlike most other variants of the Metro interface, this one is very simplistic. The settings are reduced to just three options, which are related to opening and closing the program. And when you close the application with the ‘Run in Background’ option, you can reactivate its window by moving the mouse cursor to the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Compared to other Metro interfaces, the options in this one are far more limited. I could find games and apps for messaging, as well as video players, in other versions of Metro, but they are missing here. The option indicating Weather doesn’t recognize the area where I am located. Image viewing is not available, and the connection to Facebook and Twitter accounts is questionable since I wasn’t able to connect to either even after 2 hours of trying.

I wasn’t too impressed with the graphics either. Although the icons are well preserved, the stylish Windows 8 background is replaced with a solid color. What's more, the user can't find any additional information about the program anywhere within the program itself.

In my opinion, this tool is not really useful. WinMetro does offer the opportunity to check out the Metro interface to those who haven’t installed Windows 8 yet; but as long as it doesn’t support the customization of the latter, it can't represent it all that accurately.
