Players alternate in playing a card from their hand, commencing with the individual holding the Two of Clubs. The remaining players must match the suit if they can; if not, they may play any card. The player who plays the card of the leading suit with the highest rank claims the trick.

One of the distinctive features of Hearts is that players are keen to avoid taking particular cards. Hearts and the Queen of Spades are unwanted as they carry penalty points. The player with the lowest score upon the game's end emerges victorious. It's a game that demands careful planning, sharp observation, and a hint of luck. The first player to accumulate 100 points is the loser, and the one with the lowest score is the winner. But what are the varying values of the cards?

Each heart card awards one point. The Queen of spades burdens you with 13 points, so exercise extreme caution with that particular card. You also have the option to “shoot the moon” by gathering all the hearts and the Queen of spades, which results in you receiving 0 points while all the other players get 26. In each round of play, the player with the highest number claims all the cards, so meticulously plan each move to evade taking the high-valued cards.
