Weather Icon is a very simple weather application. It was designed to let you see the current state of the weather quickly and without obstructing your view or slowing your workflow. Thus, the app displays a small icon on the menubar showing you the current temperature and the state of the weather. When I was testing the app, it was sunny with a temperature of 9 degrees Celsius. The icon showed the temperature and an image of the sun.
From the Preferences window, you can add new locations and configure the app. As I noted above, the app is very simple. There are only three settings that you can change: temperature unit, wind speed unit and update interval. You can also set the app to start at login and show the Preferences window when the app is launched, but those are not weather-related options.
If you click the menubar icon, a small window will appear, showing you additional weather information and a four-day forecast. From here, you can also switch between your added locations and access to the Preferences window.
I think that Weather Icon is a great app. I am a regular person who only needs to know the temperature and an accurate forecast for the day. Thus, I don't need severe weather alerts and other weather information.
