VidCutter is an application that allows you to cut parts of a large video file. What is great about this tool is the ability to auto-detect scene transitions which you can save as individual clips. They are automatically indexed into chapters so you can join them with ease at a later time.
Most of the main window is taken by the preview panel. Once a video is loaded, the tool makes a frame-based analysis and generates thumbnails of the identified scenes. This smart operation is of great help, as it spares you from the tedious task of identifying scene transitions with your senses. The thumbnail previews allow you to set with ease the start time and the end time of the clip you want to cut. Having the time indicators set, you just need to enable the clipping to preserve the new media file for later use. All the clippings of the input video are displayed as chapters in the Clip Index panel. They will have the same format as the original video.
