VAT – SPY is a viewer application for the air traffic control to be used by the VATSIM networks. It is a multi threaded application unlike its model, ServInfo, which makes the user interface more responsive even though the application is still doing something on background. Thus, while downloading the current traffic data, you will be able to zoom or pan through the map without waiting for the application to finish the download. The user friendly interface allows you to customize the fonts and colors of the map. The world map can be easily panned or zoomed using your mouse. The smoothness in panning and zooming is assured as another thread takes care of all background jobs. The book marking option of the program allows you to save your favorite map so that it can be used later. This makes a quick access to your favorite country or airport etc. in your later attempts. The filters option of the program will help you to filter out certain pilots or controllers who are online. You can create new filters as well as use the old filters which are already created. The METAR lookup window allows you to fetch multiple METARs at once. Even though VAT-SPY mimics the ServInfo, it provides a more responsive user interface through the use of multi-threading, and also a smooth panning and zooming on the world map.
