Before using Typinator on your Mac you first need to grant it permission to operate from the System Preferences tool (go to Security & Privacy -> Accessibility). Then, the program will launch and its icon will be displayed on your Menu Bar.

For example, you can define the "typenm" abbreviation with the expansion "Anne J. Smith". Afterwards, if you type the "typenm" term into programs like a web browser or TextEdit, the term will be replaced by "Anne J. Smith".
