The Wicker Devil is a free-to-play short horror game from shawcat that employs a Five Nights at Freddy’s inspired gameplay to deliver an atmospheric, heart-thumping survival horror experience. Here, the player must avoid getting killed by a bipedal deer and survive the perilous night.
In The Wicker Devil, you are a male hunter living in a cabin in the blizzard-stricken woods. With the generator continuously shutting off and the fireplace dying out, his survival is at stake. To survive, he must brave the cold, close the windows, gather sticks, and repair the generator.
The hunter is not alone, though. As you pick up sticks for your fireplace, a bipedal deer with glowing yellow eyes can jumpscare you out of the blue, thus ending the game. You can also die from frostbite. Regarding technical issues, some players have reported frame drops and poor optimization.
Not recommended for the faint of heart, the Wicker Devil is a game that forces players to go out of their way to survive a blizzard, even if it means having a near-death experience with a menacing yellow-eyed deer. However, the title is poorly optimized and has frame rate issues.
