TextToPix is a tool that lets you add a single effect to your pictures. The effect consists in recreating an image with a text. The text is rendered in different colors and with different backgrounds to recreate the shape of the image. This is not an effect that would look good in every image. As a matter of fact, most images will not benefit from it at all. One example of an image where the effect does look good is the image used in the developer's website. There, you can find an image of a map of the world. The effect uses the names of all the countries to create a new text-based image.

The application uses a single window, where all the settings can be found. You have to drag the image that you want to recreate to the top-left box. And, you can add text, by clicking "Text Fill" and typing it or pasting text from another application. Once you do that, the image will be created. You can adjust it in real-time by moving two sliders at the bottom of the screen that read "Number of Characters in Line" and "Distance between lines". The more characters there are in a line, the more details the picture will have.

In short, this is a nice app to create the aforementioned effect. It is the only thing this app does, and it costs $24.95. The app works well and it is very easy to use, even for an amateur user.
