Super Mario Bros: Odyssey is a free-to-play adventure experience from smbmaster99. It is essentially a fan-made remake of the first Super Mario Bros game, originally released in 1985. The visuals are closer to Super Mario Land, but with added cutscenes and recreates the original levels in a new style. Furthermore, the platformer offers new content such as movesets and skins from succeeding Mario games.
Compared to the 1985 NES original, Super Mario Bros: Odyssey isa lot more beginner-friendly and offers more content for the levels available. Also, check out Super Mario Bros 3: Mario Forever.
Super Mario Bros: Odyssey follows the same general premise as the original. The brothers set out torescue Princess Peach from Bowser, with help from the Toads or the Mushroom People. You can choose between Mario and Luigi instead of whether you play as Player 1 or Player 2. Additionally, the story is better explored in this game thanks to the additional cutscenes that show interaction between the characters.
This game has content taken from succeeding Mario games. For example, the first chapter of the game also comes with a couple of tutorial boxes. Similarly, the game also has checkpoint flags—a feature not available until the later stages of the original game. Also, the game’s visuals are different from the original 8-bit approach. It adapts the same graphics as Super Mario Land.
Lastly, the game comes with a couple of new movements such as sliding on walls or charging jumps. The only catch in this game is that itdoes not include all levels. Also, instead of the traditional eight worlds with four levels each, it only has a single world with eight levels taken from different set designs in the original game.
Super Mario Bros: Odyssey revitalizes the classic Mario adventure with modern enhancements. It offers improved storytelling through additional cutscenes and updated graphics similar to Super Mario Land. Players can choose between Mario and Luigi, enjoy new movements, and utilize checkpoint flags. While it condenses the original eight worlds into a single world with eight levels, it successfully merges nostalgic elements with contemporary gameplay features.
Incredibly fun and enjoyable game. It has a great sense of humor and the graphics are bright and colorful. The gameplay is fast and challenging, and the controls are easy to learn and use
