Sudden Strike Iwo Jima is a nice war game.
As its name states, the game is focused on the Battle of Iwo Jima, also known as Operation Detachment, which took place in 1945. This battle of United States against the Japanese Empire remained in the history books as one of the fiercest fights from the World War 2.
Once the game opens, the first thing that you will notice is the interface that even a ten-year old kid would be able to use with ease. Choose a nickname and you are ready to start the campaign. Here, you will see the only disadvantage of the game, the missing of the multiplayer mode. Once you choose to play the campaign mode, two scenarios are available: join the US Navy and US Marine corps on taking over the island from the Imperial Japanese army, or join the Japanese on defending the island from the landing Americans.
You will experience a great war feeling, regardless of the campaign you choose. If you choose the American side, you will be given eight objectives, from landing safely on the island to taking over a flag. Once these tasks are completed you will advance to the next mission of the campaign and so on, until the end of the game. The graphics look good, especially the fighting ships that were made extremely detailed, and the view perspective is a plus for the game.
The gameplay is addictive even for a those who are not usually into war games.
In conclusion, if you choose to play this game, be prepared to lose some days in front of your computer.
