StuffIt Archive Manager is a program that allows you to see your files organized in categories. They are grouped by their extension and are called Collections. Examples of some of those collections include Zip, Rar, Tar, Stuffit, Disk Images, and Microsoft Doc files. Of course, it is possible to create and organize your own archive, as well. Since StuffIt offers a slightly better compression rate than included Zip compressor in latest Mac OS, one can take advantage of the Archive Manager to compress all photos, or documents into an archive for a backup.
Archive Manager allows you to browse the contents of your archive file. It is painfully slow. Even viewing the smallest archive takes about 4 seconds. On the other hand, the alternative is to decompress a file, and that could take a few minutes.
Another feature worth mentioning is the Archive Scheduler. It is accessible from the main window and allows a user to setup a schedule to back up files using a certain criteria (extension, creation date, etc) and can be set to back up the files or folders periodically (day of a week, hours). Helpful tool, just do not get lost in all the archives you create with this tool.
Disk Doctor will free up disk space by removing cached and unneeded files from your hard drive.
