Stormrise is a 3D real-time strategy game for Windows. This particular take of the RTS genre leaves a lot to be desired. While playing the game for the first time, I was actually excited about the visuals and the sound effects. The story is also great. Stormrise puts you in command of an army that has to fight its enemies in a post-apocalyptic world. That kind of scenario is always intriguing and intense. However, a good story by itself does not make a game good. Stormrise was originally released on consoles such as Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. And you can tell. The controls are fundamentally flawed. You control your units from a third-person perspective and you can't just select other squads or units by clicking on them. You have to drag the right mouse button all the way to the direction where those units are and then let your hero go to them. That makes a lot of sense when you are playing with an Xbox 360 controller, but is just plainly wrong and unsuitable for the PC. Thus, the user will get often irritated by his inability to carry out the simplest of tasks: select units and give them specific commands. If the game had a control scheme more like Command and Conquer (perhaps), it would be worth playing. On the good side, the enemy's AI seems to be responsive and challenging, but of course, you wouldn't want to be killed by your enemies simply because you can't move, would you?
