SSMA - The action will let you choose the capture area through the cursor, then will save the file by name “screen capture”. The action then will open a new mail message (through your default account) and attache the captured image to it (with the subject line: “Screen capture” which you can edit of course).
Mia for Gmail (was Notifier Pro for Gmail) is a desktop Gmail client which sits politely in your menu bar.
