The program features a really modern and intuitive interface. In the player, there are a number of parameters you can customize when playing a movie, for example, contrast, brightness, and saturation. To enhance your viewing experience, you can use advanced features such as Detail, Motion, Boost, and Light Boost. To help you see the difference, the developers have a mode called Demo. This mode lets you compare how a video will look with the effects and without them. I am happy to say that there was a tremendous improvement in video quality after configuring the parameters.

Other than the media playback prowess, this program is also capable of enhancing video and audio capability. You can enhance audio by using a boost filter and by modifying 7.1 audio parameters. The software allows you to store your settings as presets to make them available whenever required. A big plus for this software is the support for all major formats and no dependency on external codecs.

Splash is also a very capable video conversion tool. You can take advantage of several predefined profiles to convert your videos. If need be, you can also use custom settings while converting videos. The program also supports hardware acceleration. In this regard, it will make use of your graphic card to increase processing power thereby reducing conversion time. After conversion, you can choose to upload your video clips to different sites.

Another feature that I liked about this software is its compatibility with subtitles. Parameters such as font, size, and color of subtitles are easily customizable and you can also adjust timings to synch your subtitles with the video stream. Apart from this, Splash also has a digital television. You can navigate through channels rather easily and the viewing experience the program provides is just as good as the playback.

To summarize, Splash is great, if not the best, software for media playback. The only features the software lacks, in my opinion, are the video downloader, screen recorder, and video editor. These features are becoming more and more common in similar kinds of software. The absence of these features might be a deal breaker for some. I, however, am a big fan.
