Freeing up space on your computer and finding duplicate files couldn't be easier using Space Checker 5. I found this program easy to download and install. When launched, the program presents an easy to use Windows style interface that displays simple, step-by-step user instructions. Selecting any drive you are interested in from the drive display, and clicking on the Scan button, prompts the program's fast scanning action and displays results quickly in the View panel. Alongside the Scan button on the menu bar there are other buttons for Help, Show Steps at Start Up, About and Duplicate File Finder. You can display your reports after scanning in three different views. A grid view, a pie chart view and a bar chart view, all are available for display and can be selected easily from the drop down menu that appears when the View button is clicked on. I found that by clicking on the Duplicate File Finder button the program launches a new window with two viewing panels. Simply selecting a drive or directory to scan, then a file format type, and clicking on the Start button, will produce the results quickly. Resulting files are displayed in two panels and any duplicates discovered are shown in the bottom panel. These duplicate files can be checked against those shown in the first panel and then deleted in the bottom panel with the delete button on your keyboard. This very handy application requires .NET framework to run.
