Soldiers - Heroes of World War II drops you into the heart of the most intense WWII combat-action. Take control of the most elite American, British, German or Russian forces ever to impact on the war-zone. Mission objectives include blowing railway tracks, kidnapping enemy officers, destroying convoys.
At the beginning of the game, there are several training missions at once, in the course of them instructors teach the player the principles of combating with shooting weapon, wielding grenades, mines and explosives. They also teach players wisdom of a battle with using shelters and fortifications. Training is followed by network and single modes (for player's choice), at that, the latter consists of four campaigns of different levels of complexity and a dozen of separate maps.
The aim of the game is usually attached to the strategic map, e.g. coming out of the encirclement to the front line, a settlement capture, hostages liberation and so on.
A player can control his team of people and materiel using one of two modes: - Command mode: marking out one or a group of units and giving them a command (to move, to attack and so on). - Direct control mode: a player controls one unit with a help of the keyboard (moving) and the mouse (aiming and shooting), by analogy with 3D-shooters.
The branched artificial intellect creates various 'movements' on the map, realistic behaviour of enemy forces in battle situations, provides exiting unexpected turns of events in every tactical scene.
