SnackAmp is a multi-platform audio player. At the moment, SnackAmp works both on Windows and on several versions of Linux. The purpose of the software is to have a low-resource, compact music player that can handle a large volume of music files. As such, the interface of the application is minimalistic, but it has all you would ever want to have in a music player.
The player works also as an editor, as it allows you to edit the properties of each audio file, making it easier to catalog and locate them. It also includes a very handy ID3 tag editor that lets you change the metadata information of an MP3 file, which can then be displayed following your preferences. MP3 tagging will also help you to keep your music collection better organized. As a bonus, this tool has saved a specific space in its interface to allow the CD cover to show up on every change of track, provided the cover have been previously associated to the song or album you are listening to.
There are some minor quirks, such as the lack of hot-keys and of system-tray minimization capabilities, the feature many players have. However, it does use up aignificantly fewer resources than other players, and it is very simple to use.
