SmoothCursor is a Menu Bar application that comes as an alternative to adjusting the mouse and the trackpad speed from the System Preferences panel. This utility provides you with a quick and simple way to adjust acceleration levels for both mouse and trackpad, is very simple to use, and doesn't slow down your Mac while it's running on your Menu Bar.
The program doesn't feature an actual interface. Instead, it displays a small panel after you click its icon on the Menu Bar. There, you can adjust acceleration speed for your mouse and trackpad.
One of the best things about this application is the fact that it allows you to create acceleration profiles for various tasks. For instance, you can build one profile for gaming and one for that's suitable for working with graphic design tools.
Another important advantage is that it allows you to define global hotkeys for enabling any of the created accelerations profiles. This feature isn't available within the System Preferences menu, an aspect that makes SmoothCursor a smart addition to your collection of Mac apps.
To conclude, I can't find any reason why you shouldn't try this program if you need to easily change mouse and trackpad acceleration profiles. Plus, the program is quite cheap.
