SmartMask can help you manipulate photographs by cutting out the desired objects. In this respect, the tool simplifies the process of masking objects by using powerful recognition algorithms. The application has a straightforward interface, which is also very similar to those of other products by the same developer.

The tool supports two modes to process an image: Auto and Manual. A combination of both modes is the best choice for obtaining the best results with minimum efforts. In automatic mode, you need to draw two types of lines: one encircles the object to keep and the other signals the elements to remove. Then, the application automatically finds the edges to create a mask.

The results are generally good but their accuracy depends on how uniform the edges are. So, it is very convenient that you can also correct the mask with tools such as the Magic Brush and Background Eraser. Likewise, it is possible to automatically remove certain colors.

Although the tool does a perfect job, masking out objects is the only thing it can do. In this regard, it is not as versatile as other tools available, which means that you would need to buy multiple similar products for performing more complex tasks.
