Smart Trash Can is a simple tool designed to help you uninstall apps completely or restore apps to their initial state. Also, it offers an easy solution to remove junk files and user caches of an app so you can regain valuable disk space and consequently, improve system performance.
The utility opens with an easy-to-use and relatively minimalistic interface. First, you need to click in or drag and drop into the main window the app you wish to manage. Once it is imported, you are provided with information related to app size, supported files size, and other details regarding the location of user cache, preferences and associated files if any. Having an overview of the selected app, you can choose whether to reset the app back to the default state or perform a thorough clean by cleaning any trace of an app, including packages and hidden files. However, the tool doesn't support managing multiple apps at once, so you need to take the apps one by one and enable the cleaning operation individually. Also, the utility doesn't remove the apps that had been installed with an associated password. In such cases, the tool deletes supported files and asks you to remove the app manually, in Finder or LaunchPad, with password confirmation.
To sum up, Smart Trash Can lets your system perform better by cleaning it of useless apps and junk app files, no matter if they are visible and easy to spot or thoroughly hidden. Also, you can choose to preserve the app while cleaning only caches and configuration files and thus make the app run as new.
