Skype Translate is a Skype chat translator for Windows. The application can only translate text in instant-messaging conversations and will do nothing to your audio conversations. It supports a variety of languages, including Spanish, English, Russian, German, Portuguese, among others. If I can still count, there are 51 supported languages.
The installation of this translation app is relatively easy. When you install it and run it, Skype will detect that another application wants to use it, so it will ask you whether you want to allow it or deny it. Once I allowed it, I went to the application settings via the system tray icon and Skype Translate detected what contacts I was chatting with. I choose a language for my contact and one for me. I then went to the IM window and started chatting. Skype Translate started translating my text in the correct languages.
In terms of quality, Skype Translate is a very, very bad translator. It fails to even comprehend the simplest of sentences. I was actually laughing at some of the translations provided by the app. I tested the Spanish-English language pair. Others might be better.
