Simple Recorder is a Mac utility designed for users to capture sound content on their computers. The application might prove to be of good use if you want to easily record content for an audiobook, a lecture for your students or an audio tutorial for a program you developed.
You can change the way Simple Recorder operates from your Dock or from the app’s panel that’s being located in your Menu Bar. The utility lets you choose between two output formats (MP3 or M4A) and allows you to select the preferred output quality level and channel type (Mono or Stereo). To begin and stop a recording process simply click the app’s Dock icon. You can also use the options that are available in the program’s panel from your Menu Bar.
In my testing, the utility worked perfectly. It used a very small amount of CPU resources while recording audio content on my Mac, was very simple to configure, and offered me quality output files in no time.
This version of the app comes with a limited amount of features. Simple Voice Recorder is another variant of the program that gives you access to more features, like the ability to define shortcut keys for immediately completing tasks within the app, save audio files to iCloud drive, etc. (these features aren't available in this edition of the app).
Another disadvantage is the fact that Simple Recorder supports only 2 output formats: MP3 and M4A.
I’d say it’s worth giving this utility a try as long as the aforementioned flaws don't mean that much to you. It provides you with high-quality output files, is very simple to handle, and works great.
Read Me a Book was developed to help users make audio clips from books so that they can listen to a book using iTunes.
