ShredIt X is a Mac program that was created by the Mireth Technology company to help you prevent unauthorized users from recovering the data you remove from your computer. This application allows its users to permanently delete files from their Macs, without leaving any traces behind.

The utility is very simple to use. All you need to do is to select the files or drives you wish to erase and that's it. The program will do the rest for you.

Unfortunately, the trial version of this application comes with an important disadvantage: you cannot see exactly how efficient this program really is. The utility doesn't shred any of the selected files, it simply sends them to Trash.

Also, the program features several deletion settings in its Preferences panel which require a bit of computer experience.

Cutting a long story short, you can find better solutions for permanently deleting files and formatting drives. Since you cannot be sure if the app's really efficient, I'd say buying this program doesn't worth the risk. There are plenty of Mac applications that let you test their capabilities before registering them.
