ShortKeys is a sort of macro recorder and typing assistant all-in-one. It allows you to save time when typing by creating a list of commonly used text strings that you can paste on any running application by typing in a "ShortKey". These ShortKeys are limited to 32 characters in length, but the text that they replace isn't limited at all.

Configuring the application is very easy. Just after installation, a quick setup wizard is launched and it guides you through the process. I chose to use a prefix to call up my ShortKeys. My prefix was "..". After that, I created a ShortKey which I named "intro" and replaced the text "Introduction to using this application". So, whenever I type "..intro", that piece of text is replaced by the longer sentence. This all worked out-of-the-box and with almost no configuration at all. You can create as many ShortKeys as you want and even assign rich text to them.

There are quite a few different options that you can play with to make ShortKeys work well for you. I didn't have to change any, but it is nice to know they are there. If you find yourself typing the same text over and over again, ShortKeys is definitely going to save you some time.
