Developer:

Shelf is an app for MacOS that looks at the current foreground application, and tries to figure out if what you’re looking at corresponds to a person in your Address Book. Then it’ll tell you things about them.

It requires MacOS 10.5 ‘Leopard’ (there are no plans for a 10.4 version, sorry) and is a Universal Binary.

v0.0.15 [Mar 1, 2011]
- Made work under Snow Leopard, Python 2.6, etc (Anil Madhavapeddy)
- Crazy experimental Google Reader support (Safari only)
- Support more versions of Chrome, hopefully. They keep changing the AS support.
- Added a Spotlight provider that attempts to grab e-mail messages and attachments exchanged with a particular contact (Rui Carmo)
- Tightened up indents and removed blank lines in some files to make it easier to work on a somewhat cramped screen.
