Shade is a Mac program that comes in handy when people wish to easily conceal their desktop icons. This application provides you with a quick and simple way to prevent other users from accessing documents from your desktop while you're away from your computer.
The utility can also be used by people who wish to immediately hide their documents and folders from desktop to immediately start recording screen activity. With just one click you can conceal every icon on your desktop and start the recording.
Shade comes with easy to comprehend instructions: click its Menu Bar icon to enable or disable the "shade". Once you activate the app, it will immediately show an image on top of your desktop.
However, an unauthorized user can launch Finder (Mac's default file manager) and open, edit, share or delete your desktop icons. So, it's not a safe solution for hiding desktop icons.
Another disadvantage is that when selecting an image as "shade", the displayed picture looks stretched or fails to fit the screen.
Taking into consideration the aforementioned flaws and the fact that this app comes with a price tag, I'd say it's not worth buying it for your Mac. You can easily find better and cheaper tools for hiding desktop icons.
