Secret Files X is a Mac utility that might come in handy if you're sharing your computer with other people and wish to prevent them from accessing your private files. This program enables you to hide your personal documents from prying eyes, making it impossible for unauthorized users to open, edit, move or delete them while you're away from your Mac.
The application features a straightforward interface where you can drag-and-drop the files you wish to hide. You can organize the imported files into groups, use the built-in search tool to find the hidden document you need, and easily remove the items that no longer need protection.
Secret Files X also features a menu in your status bar from where you can get immediate access to its main window and Preferences panel.
Sadly, the program comes with several flaws. For starters, you need to upgrade the app to its Pro version to be able to protect folders. Also, the utility lacks an option to immediately display its main window (for example, set a global hotkey).
Furthermore, the application occasionally freezes. In my testing, the program ran slowly when I changed the options from the Preferences panel. I also had problems closing the Preferences window (nothing happened when I clicked over the "X" button and had to restart the app).
In my opinion, you should look for a different Mac application for protecting your private files and folders. This app doesn't work 100% and comes with many flaws.
