Screeny is a Mac application that enables users to record their screen activity and take snapshots of their desktop. You can work with this program whenever you wish to capture a video tutorial for an app or game walkthrough, take screenshots of a utility problem to request assistance from a support team, etc.
The utility sits on your Menu Bar from where you can select the type of recording (video or screenshot), reveal or hide the Controls window, and configure the app's settings according to your needs. Furthermore, the program also enables you to define global hotkeys for starting or stopping video recordings, taking screenshots, etc.
The Controls window gives you access to several capturing options (choose the proper resolution), choose webcam recording mode, and enable or disable mouse click highlight feature. After you finish the recording process or take the snapshot, you can click the button from the upper-right side of the Controls screen and open the destination folder.
Unfortunately, this application doesn't offer you many features. For instance, it supports only two output formats: PNG for screenshots and MOV for video recordings. Another disadvantage is that you cannot change the destination folder.
All in all, this program is free of charge. I'd say it's worth installing it on your Mac as long as the aforementioned flaws don't mean much to you. Otherwise, I'd suggest you to try a different screen capture utility.
