This program is exactly what its name suggests: a utility designed to help you record your screen activity. Screen Movie Recorder provides you with easy-to-configure output settings, enables you to use shortcut keys for controlling its built-in video recorder, and immediately generates the quality output files you need.
The application doesn't bring you an actual interface. Instead, it features a small menu in your Menu Bar from where you can access the Preferences panel of the app and begin or stop video recordings. The program also provides you with the ability to follow your mouse on the screen while recording as well as hide or show the mouse cursor from the resulting video. Just select the area you wish to record and the app will offer you quality results in no time.
In my testing, the utility worked great. It offered me quality video files and was very simple to use. However, this program comes with many flaws. For starters, it doesn't display the margins of the selected area while video recording the screen. Furthermore, the app supports only one output format: MOV.
But the thing that bothered me the most was that the utility provides you with a very small amount of output configurations. For example, it lacks mouse click effects, video editing options (timeline view mode would also come in handy to trim the recordings), etc.
With that being said, I don't think it's worth purchasing this program for your Mac. You can easily find better solutions for recording your screen activity.
