Ruler Tool is a very interesting application that was developed by Dr Andrew J Marsh. It gives the possibility of measuring such items as icons, thumbnails, windows on your desktop using a virtual ruler. The program is extremely easy to use. After the program is installed and launched an orange ruler appears on the screen ready for measuring. You can change its length using your mouse. With a right button click you can drag it to any place of your desktop and open the pop-up menu that contains many options. First of all you can bring it into a level or an upright position. Also you can activate the 'Always on Top' mode or change the ruler opacity. The application has very low system requirements and doesn’t need a lot of space on your hard drive. Ruler Tool is absolutely free, so you can easily download it from developers' home page. The only disadvantage of this application is the absence of a help section. Actually there is the “Help” item in the menu, but it is useless, because it doesn’t work.
