Rottenwood is a handy application that helps you store and organize information about favorite movies. This way, you will have a personal catalog that you can configure to correspond to your needs.

The utility comes with a simple, yet rather dull interface, without the capability of becoming more attractive – you can only turn the black background into white and vice versa. The program provides four modules that let you organize your video files into movies you've seen or want to watch, favorite ones, and the already reviewed. The last category comprises a database created by the developer, but I find the list quite small and the information poor.

Using the tool implies following a few simple steps. First, you need to make sure that you're connected to the Internet, and then type the name of the movie you’re looking for into the searching box. Once the video file has been identified, the app informs you about the name of the actors, the genre, the directors, etc. Furthermore, you have the opportunity to retrieve additional information from two specialized websites. Next, you can classify the movie as already seen, add it to favorites, or put it on a waiting list for watching at a later time.

Overall, the program is good, but not great. It identifies the movies you are looking for and classifies them according to certain criteria, but as far as I'm concerned, there is room for improvements. For instance, it doesn't identify the movie if the name is incomplete. Moreover, the list with the results found doesn't withdraw automatically when you stop typing. Even if the cursor isn't placed on the searching box any more, the list is still dropped down, cluttering the displayed window for no reason. You have the ability to export your database, but you can't import an existing one. Personally, I have worked with similar programs that were far more featured and available for free.
