As its name suggests, this application attempts to fix broken Excel files that can no longer be opened. It will try to repair damaged Excel spreadsheets regardless of the reason why they got corrupted and regardless of what error is being displayed when you try to open them ("Unable to read file", "The document is corrupt and cannot be opened ...", etc.).
It can repair spreadsheets created with various versions of Microsoft Excel: 95, 97, 2000, XP, and 2003. Unfortunately, it supports only XLS files created with these older Excel editions and not the newer XLSX files too. It is supposed to recover the Excel files completely, including formulas, formatting and links. Unfortunately, I have my doubts about the reliability of this feature, as the previewing function which is supposed to show what exactly can be recovered from a broken Excel file displayed incorrectly some formulae and special characters from the original file. Occasionally, this previewing function failed to work completely during my testing of this program. As you can see, there are quite a lot of downsides about this application, which makes purchasing this tool seem like a risky decision to me, especially considering that its price is not low at all.
On the other hand, it’s very simple-to-use, neat and lightweight. Anyway, that’s far from enough to earn my recommendation. My sincere opinion is that you should keep looking for some other applications if you need to repair Excel files. This one simply doesn’t look trustworthy enough.
