Quick Record is a very simple audio recording tool. When you launch the application, you will see a small window with a photo of an old microphone. There aren't any buttons at sight. To start a recording, you simply click on the microphone. You will notice that the window will start flashing. This means that the app is recording audio. When you tap on it again, the recording will be stopped and you will be prompted for a location where you want to save your recording. They are saved using the WAV format. In my testing, I didn't have any problems recording audio from my Mac's microphone. The quality was good and the recordings were saved quite quickly, even when they were long.
In a nutshell, this app is good for casual users. Anyone who needs a more customizable recorder might want to look for other solutions, since Quick Record doesn't even have a preferences window. There is absolutely no way to change the recording settings or pick other formats, and I know most users might want to have that option. For quick and easy audio recordings, this application does honor to its name.
