Q.U.B.E (Quick Understanding of Block Extrusion) is a 3D action puzzle game, influenced by the iconic title, Portal.
The minimal style and atmosphere make Q.U.B.E instantly cool, and the game mechanics are introduced nice and slowly. You wear gloves, which can push and pull blocks from a distance. Different colored blocks react differently, and can be combined to solve puzzles in each room of Q.U.B.E's map.
While it may be influenced by Valve's 3D puzzle game, Q.U.B.E is much more serene, and there isn't that same sense of a threat. The puzzles aren't too hard, but it's still a pleasant game to play. Q.U.B.E is based on the Unreal 3D engine, which makes it really solid and stable game.
Because it's still in beta there are a few niggles with it, mainly that there's no save game, so you always have to start from the beginning. It also lacks a unique pause menu, and feels somewhat unfinished. Nevertheless, Q.U.B.E is a cool idea and this beta is a great opportunity to try out this cool puzzle game.
Q.U.B.E is well worth a play through, and while it may not be as revolutionary as it's influences it will provide a reasonable challenge.
