ProPaint is intended for digital painting. In this respect, the tool supports vector drawing as well as layers. Luckily, despite its many features, it is not difficult to use. Still, it is a good idea to watch the online video tutorial to get the most out of it. Likewise, it is also convenient that every time you open the app, you are prompted to enter the intended dimensions as well as the resolution for the new image. Moreover, there are some sample images to explore the product’s potential.

The application’s interface is not very different from those of other similar applications. There is a large canvas that maximizes your workspace. Then, most of the drawing tools are accessible from the tool palette on the left. Fortunately, the toolbox is quite wide and contains multiple brushes as well as various transformation and selection tools. Even though working on various simultaneous projects is allowed, you will not find the popular tabs. Instead, each project is opened in a separate window.

It is good that every time you draw a new object, it automatically appears on a separate layer. This way, you can easily arrange the order or momentarily hide a particular object to focus on another. Similarly, you can modify the layers’ opacity to create effects of transparency.

Once you have done your work, Pro Paint allows exporting it in various popular picture formats, including PNG, TIFF, BMP, JPEG, GIF and SVG. Otherwise, you can save the project in the app’s own format if you intend to continue working on it later.

All in all, ProPaint provides with many image processing and drawing tools. Thus, in the hands of a skilful designer, it may create excellent artworks, like icons, storyboard, logos and illustrations. Unfortunately, the tool crashed multiple times while I was trying it. The product is available from the Mac Store.
