Prefs Editor is a utility for editing Preferences files on your Mac. This program might come in handy if you want to enable or disable certain functions for your Mac apps, add new buttons or features to your tools, and so much more.
The application is not intended for a beginner Mac user as you might accidentally damage the performance of the utility in question. So, make sure you know exactly what alterations you make before it's too late.
Prefs Editor enables you to modify various types of values from your Preferences files, such as Boolean, String, Dictionary, etc. It also features an integrated search tool that helps you immediately find the Preferences file you wish to edit.
The only thing that bothers me is that you might need to restart your Mac or the application related to the edited Preferences file in order to apply the new changes. For example, in my testing, I had to restart my Mac to apply a change made for Finder's Preferences file (I added a Quit option Finder's main menu). Still, this isn't a big deal since the program works flawlessly and provides you with end result you need.
With that being said, I think it's worth installing this application on your Mac if you need to easily edit Preferences files. It's effective, simple to handle, and free.
